World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning contest where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete US viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase over the previous year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
