Ten convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has not yet been published.

A persistent conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.

Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
